Dupratex 600D
Dupratex is made 100% from polyester. This provides the fabric with fantastic properties in water. Polyester fiber is able to bond color agents extremely well and it does not lose its strength when it is wet (compared to Nylon for example). This is why the colors on Dupratex remain bright for and the material strong even after many years of intense use.
600D refers to the number of deniers in a single fiber. The more deniers, the stronger the fiber. High number of deniers in Dupratex 600D makes the material that much stronger and resistant against abrasion and use in extreme conditions.
Corex
We are all for green alternatives but when it comes to PVC free floatation foams the world has been "green-washed."
NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) remains the most reliable foam there is. It is completely Phthalate free and save. It is the strength of the bond that makes this foam resistant against pressure dents, water and UV damage. The foam maintains its buoyancy longer than any PVC free alternatives reducing the need for foam replacement, reducing the need for more foam to be produced. Adding to the equation that PVC free floatation foams replaced PVC with just another less stable polymer, you really start wonder about the bottom line.
There is no foam that is compostable, no foam that saves the planet. Take care of your PFD so it keeps you afloat for a long time:)
